Relaxation, elegance, electro.

The #SocialTestride discovers Milan.

The lucky participants.

The lucky participants.

And who were the lucky ones? Out of over 100 candidates, the selection for the test riders fell on scooter fans Simone Bozzi, Laura Elia, Matteo Bozzetti and Alessandro Ferrari. They met up at the dealership filled with anticipation, in order to personally and thoroughly test the scooter which had only recently been presented. They had already read a great deal about the innovative concept in the media. And now it was finally time: they met their tour leader for the day on site – Alessandro Manzueti. He divides his time between Milan and Rome, and knows a thing or two about urban mobility.

Always reachable, everything reachable.

Always reachable, everything reachable.

Another passion of the Italians: their mobile phones. And of course, our participants were also equipped with smartphones. Because after all, the #SocialTestride through Milan had to be accompanied by countless photos and status updates. It quickly became clear that many Italians have discarded their small-wheeled, small-engine scooters in favour of larger-wheeled, longer wheelbase maxi-scooters, with their better handling and increased comfort levels contributing to a more enjoyable ride. And what is particularly important here: the increased speeds and the additional weather protection. Which makes sense, especially for commuters and longer journeys. Which is why you see countless machines like the BMW C 600 Sport and the C 650 GT on the roads surrounding Milan.

The finest moments of the tour.

Always a relaxed smile.

Always a relaxed smile.

Tour guide Alessandro had actually proclaimed the day's motto to be relaxation. And this was definitely experienced by the participants – at least as long as they were riding their C evolutions. Because the moment they came to a stop, they were showered with questions about their vehicles. In the designer's metropolis, comments on the design of the C evolution were just as commonplace as questions on its technology. Yet the stations of the day and the riding experience ensured that participants always had smiles on their lips to receive even the strangest of questions.

Station 1: Arco della Pace.

Station 1: Arco della Pace.

The Arco della Pace is located on the world-famous Piazza Sempione. The triumphal arch was built between 1807 and 1838. Originally, it was intended as a tribute in honour of Napoleon's Italian kingdom. But after this kingdom had fallen, the arch is a memorial for peace in Europe, as had been envisaged by the Congress of Vienna. For the C evolution fleet, it served as a nice symbol as well as the starting point for its discovery of Milan. After all, the tour leads through five European cities – very quietly, peacefully and with zero emissions.

It felt as if the riders had attracted every gaze in Milan all morning long. By lunch, it was really time to relax and allow their own gazes to wander. Station 3: Piazza XXV Aprile.

The nicest cafés, the most famous shops, the most fashionable people – Milan is quite typically Milan around the square of the 25th April. This is where tradition and modernity all blend into one unique atmosphere. Our pioneers in electromobility also take a stroll down the shopping boulevard Corso Como and wander across the Piazza Gae Aulenti. And it is of course once again a case of marvelling and being marvelled at – the latter of course being meant for the C evolution.

Station 5: El Brellin.

Station 5: El Brellin.

Rather hidden away and surrounded by a small garden, "El Brellin" is the last stop on the Milan #SocialTestride. The e-riders and the team reflect on the day at this small but distinguished restaurant on the Naviglio Grande canal. Although the team had to rise back up to their top form once more: to support the riders, employees of BMW Motorrad stopped at a pontoon and answered countless questions on the C evolution. And of course, anyone who was interested could arrange for a test ride right away on site. The interest in electromobility and the day in Milan really don't seem to want to come to an end.
