Increased comfort for a greater sense of thrill. A motorcycle that defined the classic touring bike segment has now reached the next stage of evolution: the new BMW R 1200 RT. With its light handling, the R 1200 RT makes it possible to enjoy what is most important: riding through the landscape. Whether on your own or with a passenger: the new R 1200 RT is all about comfortable, relaxed riding on every tour.

More dynamic performance. More control.
The new RT has a new air/water-cooled BMW boxer engine with even more torque and 125 bhp for powerful propulsion. Thanks to the highly active electronically controlled suspension system ASC, the machine is still very easy to control and offers stability on every country road. The standard modes "Rain" and "Road" can also be activated at the press of a button, adapting the motorcycle perfectly to the weather conditions and road surface as required. The Board Computer Pro and the familiar heated grips round off the range of basic equipment.

More optional extras. More comfort.
The special equipment for the new RT enables even simpler handling of the machine while still offering an increased level of comfort. For example, the electronic suspension BMW Dynamic ESA responds within a fraction of a second to changing surfaces. Shift Assistant Pro allows the rider to shift up and down without using the clutch or throttle valve. Another option available is "Dynamic" mode, which guarantees maximum riding fun for sporty, dynamic motorcyclists. Also available as an optional extra: a central locking system which also locks both cases by remote control, a cruise control system and lots more besides.

A supreme touring bike with a persuasive design: the use of transparent materials conveys lightness and agility. The R 1200 RT is available in the new elegant paint finishes Quartz blue metallic, Ebony metallic and Callisto grey metallic matt.

- The snap adapters are fitted inside the topcase lid. Secured by means of the screws supplied for the purpose. The topcase lid has four reinforced points to accommodate these screws.

Impact protection for touring cases

2 strong plastic moulded impact protectors for each side
Effectively protect the cases at the side and the side front against surface damage:
- The section of the top rubbing strip is the widest part of the case (instead of the painted surface of the case).
- TPU, the plastic used, is resilient and springy, but it is not as soft as rubber.
- This effectively protects the paint finish from damage (for example by scuffing when the motorcycle is manoeuvred in a tight space).

Pro shift assistant (NEW)

Permits upshifts and downshifts without declutching or closing the throttle in the load and rpm ranges generally relevant for riding situations

Front seat standard / high / low (NEW)

Choice of front seats to suit the ergonomic needs and preferences of the individual:
- Standard (1): Standard seat with "medium" seat height
- High (2): Higher seat specially for tall riders, offering more comfort because the knees are at a more comfortable angle
- Low (3): Easier for rider to put his/her feet on the ground, so motorcycle easier to balance when stopped
Each is height-adjustable to either of 2 positions
All versions available with or without seat heating
- Seat heating function only in combination with seat heating as optional extra (cannot be retrofitted)
Front seat with seat heating upgraded with zoned foam stiffness for even more comfort and special Freshtouch seat covering:
- The seat does not heat up so much because the rays of light are reflected (much like the coldblack and TFL Cool technologies used for motorcycling suits). The difference in temperature between this covering and the normal covering material is approximately 10 °C.

Paddock Stand

Paddock Stand for rear wheel swinging arm, made of strong rectangular-section special-steel tubing, welded
For lifting the motorcycle quickly and holding it securely in position

How it works: The tubular holder of the Paddock Stand is simply pushed through the hollow rear axle and pressure is then applied to the lever to lift the rear wheel. There is an adapter for matching the diameters of tubular holder and hollow rear axle.
